There are few weeks in Australia’s fashion calendar that warrant the same level of excitement as Australian Fashion Week. For five days, stylish Sydneysiders (and fashion insiders from around the country) gather at Carriageworks to celebrate the country’s vibrant creative landscape. There are the heavy hitters renowned for flying the Australian fashion flag worldwide, plus up-and-coming designers defining the new guard of Australian fashion. Whether you find yourself at the shows or not, the event gives an insight into what the future of fashion is set to look like in Australia.

One brand that epitomises Australian fashion — and is the new darling of The Galeries — is Blanca, which is set to hit the runway at AFW for a second year in a row. Founded by PR guru Ana Piteira, the creative mind behind the beloved Reliquia Jewellery, Blanca’s aesthetic is defined by the easy-breeziness that often characterises Australian fashion. Relaxed tailoring forms the backbone of the brand; think oversized shirting and roomy trousers that work as well in the office as they do thrown over swimmers.

There’s a more glamorous side to Blanca too. The brand’s signature oversized silhouettes get an elevated upgrade thanks to delicate lace, sheer fabrics and playful textures. A puff-sleeved crop top adds structured balance to wide-legged trousers, while a tie-front top is made fun via fringing. Blanca’s clothes are dynamic, playful and made to move in, so it’s little wonder the brand has decided to return to the runway to present its upcoming collection.

While you wait for the runway collection to hit the stores this summer, discover Blanca’s trans-seasonal staples all year round exclusively at The Galeries.
